FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Welcome to 2019 to all members of our school community. After a very successful year for our students in 2018, we look forward to another great year. We have included the data from last year’s 12s in this newsletter for your information. The results were a credit to all members of our school community and the result of values and direction shared by all.
As you are aware, Chris Booth is on leave and is considering his options for his future. I am pleased to assume the role of principal in his absence. When Chris decides on his future, we will let our school community know and also inform you of the timeline for the appointment of a permanent Principal if that is applicable. Nathan Harvey is acting Deputy Principal during this period.
Our student numbers are increasing and we now have 2411 enrolments. Our biggest year groups are Year 11 with 414 enrolments and Year 7 with 415 enrolments. However, we are staffed accordingly with outstanding teachers and each student will receive the attention requisite for achieving their best.
I wish everyone well at the beginning of another exciting year for this outstanding school.
Colin Marshall
VALE DON MUNRO
It is with great sadness that we advise you of the passing of a much respected and valued member of our staff.
Don Munro taught at our school for over 28 years and passed away in January after a brief illness.
He was our Head of English and the author of many texts widely used in this state. As well teaching English and English Literature, Don introduced the study of Philosophy and Ethics to Willetton and his influence on education in the wider community was significant.
A man of many talents with a perceptive intellect, Don’s outstanding contribution to students, staff and executive will long be remembered.
FIRST DAY ASSEMBLY
As is our tradition, we begin the school year with a full school assembly and welcome our new Year 7s. Students are then called to their year group assemblies and then to tutor groups.
